Afraid to plan LO's birthday?

Some of the ladies on the Oct BMB are already planning their LO's first birthday party.

I am scared sh!tless to do this. I know it sounds silly but it is kind of like my PgAL days. I'm afraid to plan ahead or get too excited so soon.

Was it hard for you to plan your LO's first birthday?

This was one of the things that didn't make me nervous. I was so excited to get to plan his 1st birthday. Try to enjoy it!!

I've kind of already started planning it but only because I am planning to take her to DL so I need to save money!

I started 3 months ahead of this 1st birthday. It was fun to look at Etsy. I got some cute invitations and decorations from a vendor on Etsy who sent us the design, and we printed them out. We had a teddy bear theme. The Babies: 9-12 months board is a fun board to see what kind of themes and some pictures of 1st birthday parties (those mothers love to share their 1st birthday party pictures).

Hugs, I haven't started thinking of this yet. I think it is way to early for this for me. I might start when DS is 10 months or so.

Don't worry - it could just be because you don't want to start planning it this early. I planned DS's in less than a month. As long as you don't plan a huge shindig for 100+ people you don't need 6 months to plan it. I really don't understand why some people spend so much $$ and effort on a 1st birthday party since your kid will not remember it.

You know, I have trouble with this on a daily basis. Things like even writing the first birthday on the calendar, I have a very hard time doing it, and sometimes cannot do it at all. I get anxiety planning the 9-month check up, buying clothes that are too big etc (like a Christmas dress for next year).

I have the same problem with my 4-year-old, and even my husband. Just this week I got panic-y making his PB sandwich for his lunch while he was returning from a business trip. What if his plane crashed?

I admittedly have serious anxiety issues. I always think, "How bold and stupid to be so presumptuous that these events may actually occur." But I wanted to let you know you aren't alone ((hugs))

I'm "glad" that I'm not the only one that still thinks this way. I still can't believe DS is really here (he's almost 6 months old!) and I still have major anxiety about planning things. You are not alone.

((Hugs)) The only right way to feel is how you feel.

As an aside, I can't lurk on our BMB any more -- between reading about all the milestone reaching and things October babies are doing that G is nowhere near makes me anxious. And reading about planning a birthday party 7 months in advance would probably do the same. We'll probably have my parents over, and that's about it. All our friends' kids are older, and his godparents (when we finally get him christented) will be over an hour away and I would not expect them to attend. So I guess there's not much to plan, anyway.

Honestly, I wasn't afraid to plan for this. I can't really explain why. DS's birthday was in February and I started planning in October. I was so excited to celebrate.

I would start planning for a wedding seven months out...but a first bday party? That is just cray cray.

I haven't felt much trepedition regarding the first birthday party (probably because it's about a month and a half away, and I should start thinking about it

Byt I do get that way about clothes. I could buy a lot of winter wear on sale in an 18m size, but I don't want all these 18m sizes in case....
