I did read about a service that would take your placenta and make it into pills that you swallow for a few weeks or months after the birth, like personalized vitamins. I could handle that....but definitely not placenta eating.

I saw some documentary one sleepless night on it... while the encapsulation is the most popular, alot of people do it eat... one of the doulas on the show liked to serve it to her new moms "sauteed in olive oil with onions"... I'm sorry, but I've seen cats eat their placentas after giving birth... this is just not for me... I'd rather have a steak.
I go on a parenting forum sometimes that is pretty crunchy, and they are all into the placenta eating there. I'm talking trading recipes for smoothies and stir frys that use the placenta...it definitely made me gag. Placenta eating is not for me.
January Jones did eat some of her placenta in food form, not pills. I am having mine encapsulated but if that were not an option I would still force myself to get past the ick factor. If you're as scared as I am about PPD you will do anything. It's nowhere near the same as eating a steak or taking vitamins. If it were then people wouldn't do it. They'd eat steak and take vitamins...

I've considered it, but don't really think I'll need it. But I can certainly appreciate that others do. Who knows? I may change my mind. But for now it's another expense I don't really want.
Re: Placenta Eating
No thanks, I'm good!
I think it's mostly in encapsulated form, which is what I plan on doing.
I read an article last week that Scarlett Johanson ate her placenta, but really, it was capsules.
I do know one woman who fried up a piece of hers and planted the rest under a tree....but she's about 5 beer short of a 6 pack so....

^This^ There are so many benefits to it. Eating it raw, cooked, in a smoothie on the other hand... *barf*
https://vivantemidwifery.com/placenta.htmlAre you sure you're not thinking of January Jones? I don't think ScarJo has any kids yet!
