Babies on the Brain

Ugh... Distract me

Well I was just coming on here to do a GTKY post since I am a newb and really want get to know you all. Well. just as I was getting on here a girl from my work walks in here and says don't tell anyone but I am pregnant. She just barely turned 20 and isn't in the stablest of places right now (trying really hard not to judge because she is a good person and I think she can make a good mom.... later down the road) My heart is breaking right now. I wanna cry. I want a baby so bad and it seems everyone around me has this news and here I am with nothing.

So I am looking to you ladies to help get my mind of this with something else. How is everyone's days going?

I am still at work super slow and boring trying to get ready for end of the month (I work in the accounting office at a car dealership). I thought I would be swamped with work this week and I guess I just work to fast cause here I am bumping :)

  • Hi! I'm a newb, too. I'm sitting on the couch watching DH and BIL play some sort of NHL video game. BIL just came into town this afternoon (for a family funeral this weekend), so him and DH are enjoying some boy time. My other BIL is on his way over, too. Love them to death, but I could do without the hockey noises hahaa! Then again, I'm just enjoying DH and my days off this weekend =]

Sorry about your difficult day. I'm 20. We're going to start trying in May, but we are actually ready, married, health insurance, etc. Girls from my hs just had babies (one had twins this time last year, and the other just had her daughter last week), and I kinda felt bummed.

  • Heya, I'm also a newb. Welcome! :D

Day's going pretty good - just finished work (I work from home) and went for a good run at lunch, although it was slow and somewhat painful thanks to me not running for a couple weeks and the altitude kicking my butt. My dad's coming in tonight (he lives in PA), so I'm looking forward to a long weekend hanging out with him.

I don't think I have baby fever as bad as most, but one of my personality traits is "activator" - meaning once a decision is made, I'm the one that wants to get going on it immediately. So this whole waiting until fall thing suuuucckkks for me. I'm trying to divert my energy into improving my min/mile time, planning some summer trips and our 5-year-anniversary trip in October, and some other creative outlets. Also I've been cleaning house. A lot. ;)

    Same!!

  • You know there is no set number of babies in the world. She told you, maybe she needs a friend. You said yourself she isn't in the most stable place at the moment, and if you have planned for a baby or not it is scary.

I agree. It is tough when others announce they're pregnant before you. I've been there, more times than I can count. I've even been lapped by several friends and family members. But like kaydee said, there isn't a set number of babies and she didn't take yours.

  • Hi there, I am decently new also.

Right now just getting used to my new role working at home/being a homemaker.  My hubby just took a new job where he works 6 days a week, all day long (doesn't get home til 9 or 10pm).  I work at home, but not getting a crazy amount of clients right now, so I am taking over all the house and errand responsibilities.  I do love having the time to cook tasty nutritious food, and the house is in better shape than ever, which makes me smile since it was always half a mess when we both worked out of the home.  Also getting used to having the house in show-room condition for clients coming over.

Try your best to be happy for your coworker who's pregnant.  It's tough when you're waiting and it's all you can think about (trust me, I notice babies and pregnant ladies EVERYWHERE).  But try to be excited for her, maybe slip her a little token baby present on the side to show her you're thinking of her.  If she's young and not in the best place in the world, she could probably really use a friend she can talk to about it.
