We are fourteen weeks today, so I guess I should be moving over to the second tri board, but we were wondering what is a good general rule about how long to wait. I have gotten a few looks from friends I haven't seen in while, I was working out of town most of last year, and I think they think I have been letting myself go. I have gained about 6 pounds and it all shows in my belly. (This is our second) My mom said we should wait until we know what we are having, but that is still 6 weeks away, I would be showing like crazy by then. What is your plan?

I will never understand the people that post a pciture of the BFP!! To each their own, I guess.
I wanted to wait until we'd seen the heartbeat but didn't get around to telling my mom that, so since she was a little more excited than we expected she outed us on facebook yesterday(the day we found out) so I went ahead and told everybody.

I have a cousin who announced the night before my wedding but she 'didn't want to steal my thunder.'
I don't feel like she stole my thunder, but I also didn't say anything about it when she came up to say congratulations!

I always said I would not post anything on Facebook about my pregnancy or my baby ( including baby pictures).
With that said, I deactivated my account 2 months ago, and it's been great!
It's a personal choice of whenever you and your SO feel comfortable. I know ladies who posted immediately while others waited until they were in the second tri. And some decided to not even post anything about their pregnancy until after the baby arrived.
FI and I have decided to wait until after I'm out of the first tri and have had a couple doctors appointments. We have told close family, but they are respecting our wishes about not posting to facebook quite yet.
We're not sharing our announcement on facebook until we have the baby. We've already told our parents and closest friends. We will tell the rest of our family/friends after I reach 2nd tri. So all of the people that are really in our lives will know. I just couldn't bear the thought of making a facebook announcment and something happening and then I have to announce to randoms I haven't seen since high school that there's no baby. Just our personal decision.

This is what I've done and will do again. I'm pretty private and don't like people that I'm not super close with knowing the state of my ute.
To each their own!
We told a few close family members & friends when we got the BFP. At 7.5 weeks they put me on bed rest for 2 weeks for a SCH. We told a few more close friends & family members then. Unfortunately, everyone at work also found out then. The rumor mill started. I had a moment of weakness and confirmed the pregnancy rumor with 2 coworkers who blabbed to everyone under the sun. Our next appointment is at 13 weeks. Unless the doc advises otherwise, we're going to call the last few people we want to tell ourselves then post it on FB after that appointment.
