Re: This can't be real! C&P

  • Maybe it's an April Fool's Day posted a few days early to throw people off?

If not, Mayim Bialik is probably taking notes.

  • If its real, I think thats awesome that her kids got BM for so long. Odd, but awesome. I dont think BM stops being nutritious for kids no matter their age. Correct me if I am wrong.

Part of me is super envious. I was done by 5 weeks.

Meh. If he were sucking on her boob, that would be really gross, but just drinking the milk out of a cup like you would with cow's milk? Why not? It is human milk being drunk by a human. That seems much less gross than a human drinking milk from a cow to me. And it is without question more nutritious.

    To each their own.

  • Uh, no. No.

I'm all for BFing and I WISH DS would have latched more often so I wouldn't have had to pump and then switch to formular because I wasn't producing enough. BUT ... if you're still nursing your 5 and year olds and sending your 18 year old to school and now boot camp with breast milk in his lunch ... WTF? Cut the cord, lady. It's tough but, you have to let your kids grow up.

No, it's weird.  It's not "that's just her parenting style!", it's weird.

Nothing is going to change my mind about that.

I get what you are saying. I actually don't side eye when she mentions the younger two (even though I KNOW she is full of it), it just doesn't bother me (extended nursing). I just refuse to believe that any teenager would be like, "cool, my mom totes remembered my thermos of BM in my lunch today!".

  • BTW, I didn't mean to offend anyone. I just ... it's odd. Perhaps I shouldn't have judged, but I did. Sorry if I hurt any feelings.

  • Personally, I can't believe it's real because IMO breast milk tastes gross (I tasted pumped milk a few times when I had failed to label when I had pumped it to make sure it was ok to give to DD).  I can't imagine a kid wanting to drink it past the toddler age.  Plus, it looks weird too.  Like this kid's friends haven't pointed out that his milk looks spoiled because it separated in his lunch bag?  Hardly.

Agreed. But, still strange in this culture. I just don't drink cows milk. I find it incredibly gross. I use it in cooking and what not, but I prefer to use almond milk.

    Cows milk ::shudders::

My DS does drink WCM though, even though it grosses me out to no end.

  • If it's real, is BM good for that long? I seriously have no idea if it would still be good or not. Plus, I wish I had gotten any milk, I had to formula feed, I didn't produce anything. But, seriously, time to cut the cord.

If it's not real, Happy Early April's Fools!

  • Raise your hand if you would have knowingly and willingly drank your mother's breast milk at lunch in your junior year of high school.

Oh she definitely isn't serious. It is entertaining to read for some reason though.

My mom got breast implants while I was in high school. I was so mortified at the time. Like, "whyyyy would you do this to meee! Everyone will know!".

Yep, no one cared. Now I get it, and I want some. Breast Implants that is. After my last baby, when I'm done nursing....so maybe when they head off to college? Wink

  • I'm an extended BFer, and am completely unphased by nursing toddlers or even young children.  I don't think it's gross what she's saying, it's just not true.  No way she pumped for 12 years in between kids and her 18 year old is taking BM into school everyday.  No way.

I've tasted my BM for the same reason, to see if it was still good or if I had to throw it away b/c I accidently left it in my pump bag overnight.  I actually didn't think it was bad tasting at all.  It was surprisingly sweet actually, for lack of a better comparison, like a melted vanilla milkshake.  It does look weird when it separates, though, so I'll give you that.

  • What a Shiity mom. She's done this much, she should probably just keep BF'ing (off the teet, could join the military with him...) until he's married & his wife can start producing BM, I mean, that's what I would do!

That is what everyone told me but it always tasted soapy to me.  I did taste milk I knew was good at first so I would have something to compare to and that tasted weird too.  Maybe I had a lipase issue (or whatever it's called) and my DD just didn't care.  Who knows...

  • Wow now THAT's a screenname I haven't seen in a while! It's kittycarr. She used to do random posts like this all the time to get everyone gasping and clutching their pearls. Hasn't been around in forever that I've seen. Gotta love it.

She use to post on Parenting a lot years ago.
