Any of my lovely RN mamas working tongiht? How's it going?
I have been pretty busy, but I needed to take a few minutes to myself to check TB for the first time all day.
My admission just came ... a 500lb man with herpes lesions over his entire body (including his eye). He is SO nice, and I feel so bad because it looks ridiculously painful. But seriously, I couldn't make this *** up.
I also have a lady with retinal necrosis, going blind from varicella zoster in her eye. Have I mentioned that I get grossed out by eye problems? Ewww.
Then of course I have the token confused 92-year old setting off the bed alarm every 5 minutes. And the aspiration pneumonia patient in with his third stroke. Top it off with my ETOH pancreatitis DKA man, and I have myself a set of winners.
On a postitive note, we had a delicious chocolate cake for a co-worker that is moving to FLA. I worked with three pregnant coworkers tonight (all due withint a few weeks of each other in Sept/Oct). I am totally jealous, and I love all the pregancy/baby talk. I would recommend TB, but this is my secret place.
If you are working tonight, I hope that you are having a smooth night. My night is not nearly as bad as it sounds. Just typical 6 west!
Re: RN check-in
Car shopping, grocery shopping, working, laundromat (I miss my washer/dryer!). You know ... all sorts of fun stuff!
We also try to get to the playground every day. Mason loves the swings too. I am lucky that they are so close to my house.
We haven't been doing anything different really ... life just seems busier for some reason. Maybe you can send that laundry-folder over here when you are done. I have a ton of Mason's clothes that I didn't get to finish before work.
XoXo

I didn't work last night, but am on call for the next 2.
I have two patients in rapid decline ( I'm a hospice RN). So I'm sure I will be called out this evening, since my on call starts at 5pm.
Don't hate me, but I'm on a 12 day vacation from work! A week of vacation, plus an extra day off, plus my normal stretch = 12 glorious days away! DS and I are just spending some great time together while I'm off...today is day 2 of being off!
Besides that, I don't envy your patients...I love taking care of the little babies and not having to worry about breaking my back (it's already broken from lugging DS around) and gross adult germs!
