  Why would air drying do any damage? I air dry mine every day

  Because I'm afraid that after a while bacteria will accumulate on it.

  That's true. And I guess mold wouldn't accumulate unless it stayed wet for a long time.. an hour at tops wouldn't be the cause for mold. I'm just afraid that repeated wetness would be harmful.

  right, as long as it dries you don't have to worry about mold.

  I let mine air dry every day.  I just wash them in hot soapy water and try to boil them every week or so to super clean them.
