Braxton hicks at 17 weeks?

Anybody else feeling the tightening already? I don't remember it this early last time. I think I'm feeling the baby move also :)

  • Yes, I remember it that early this time around. I don't know that I had them at all with first pregnancy but I've definitely had them this time around.

  • Lol I literally posted something similar to this last night. Too funny, sounds like we are feeling the same thing! The ladies that posted to me said it could be your uterus tightening and the releasing, but very possibly the baby. Do you feel it all the time?

No not all the time but every 2 hrs maybe? Just tightening and releasing. Usually unaffected by hydration. Glad I'm not alone :)

  • Yes it normal, our uterus begin having BH when we are around 6 weeks but of course we don't feel them till later because our uterus is too small and tucked behind our pelvis at this time. Some women feel them sooner than others. This is my third and I have felt them since I was 13 weeks. Make sure you are drinking enough water, they tend to be more frequent if you are dehydrated.

  • Yep, mine started at 17 weeks also.  The Dr said in 2nd pregnancy you feel them sooner.  I had them at 21 weeks constantly, (1 every 30 minutes for a whole week) Ithought I was going into Pre-Term Labor, but cervix was still long and very much closed. Just was BH, now I barely get them, just every once in a while.

  • I have been having it too for about a week now. My whole 'baby belly' gets tight then after a lil bit releases. Not painful painful but uncomfortable.

  • ive been getting them since 17 weeks also. i thought there was something wrong with me for getting them so early. and people make it worse when you tell them that your having them this early. but my doc said they are normal and from what ive read on here so many women get them so this early. usually when i sit or lay down they go away. but ive been getting them at work lately, and its nearly impossible for me to sit down there. i get like 3 or 4 of them a day and its worse if i have a full bladder. if they keep happening this bad for me while im working then ill prob have to go on bedrest. i had an u/s friday and everything was fine. so if they get really uncomfortable i would check with your OB.
