XP: Moldy tampons?? wtf

I came across this blog post about finding a moldy tampon, and am very disturbed. It was from a brand new, unopened box of kotex. The email from the company is even more disturbing, apparently this isn't the first they've heard of this happening.

I think I would puke every where if this happened to me.

    right before I got pregnant, I heard about this thing called a "diva cup" and after reading into and finding out that my good friend LOVES hers and for all the right reasons, I was just about to order one, then found out I wouldn't need one for awhile!

    I plan to buy one when this baby is done nursing and AF shows her ugly head once more!

    WOW. BARF.

    I can't imagine.  I have to admit, I don't (at least, until now) examine at every single tampon before insertion.  Most of the time, it's at night, or I was too lazy to turn on the light in the toilet area in my bathroom, which is dark even during the day. YUCK.
