Cloth Diapering

DH and CD laundry

My sweet husband said he would do the diaper laundry for me to help out. I wrote out the instructions and the look on his face made me LOL. I guess I'm going to have to help him this time, but he says next time he will do it on his own.

Anyone else's hubbys perplexed with the complexity of Diaper laundry? LOL.

I think he is actually very capable of doing it on his own, but is using the scary instructions as an excuse.

  • My DH learned pretty quickly but he always forgets a step or two and has to ask. At least they're trying to help right?

  • DH has helped out with CD laundry twice in a year. He gets very overwhelmed by laundry. I really should put some instructions about the washer though, so he can help out more since he'll be off all summer with DD.

  • I don't let him near them with a 10 foot pole!!

If he wants to help, there is plenty of other laundry to be done that also has to get folded.  :)

  • Never, but that was our deal on CD. If he ever does, he would probably decide a rinse was unnecessary or something.
  • My husband said he would help if I needed it (I have some bulging disks in my back so walking is nearly impossible for me right now) and I turned the offer down. and scooched myself down the stairs on my butt to do the laundry.  We are batteling yeast right now and The washing routine is so complex with a bleach wash and a tea tree oil/grapeseed extract rinse and a regular wash with Tide in the prewash and Tiny bubbles in the main compartment - anyway, you get the picture.  It would scare him away from diaper laundry forever.  I need him willing and ready if I need back surgery.

This made me LOL.  I'll ask DH once in a while to start the next wash cycle, but that's about it.  I'm way too much of a control freak.  :)

  • I love hearing these stories! I had my CD washing instructions written out and taped to the laundry room wall because my mom had been helping us with laundry right after I had DD. One day DD and I were napping and DH came in and said, "Okay, I did the cold prewash, now with the hot wash, is that on regular or heavy duty?" I sat straight up in bed and looked at him. "Did you take out all the inserts?!?" "Yes." "Did you make sure all the velcro tabs are secure?!?" "Yes ..." "Oh .. okay." He did a great job!!! :)
  • You have to simplify the instructions for them. So what if it's not exactly your perfect routine. You'll fix it next time.

Cold Wash, Hot Wash, Extra Rinse, Specify the detergent (Actually I label the detergent with a black Sharpie "DIapers"). And I just banned dryer sheets from the house entirely. MIL kept tryign to throw them in.

  • MH does mostly of the CD laundry without any problems. He doesn't think it's hard. However he can't match inserts to the right pockets to save his life and leaves that job to me. He does just fine with the AI2s and fitteds, so I can't really complain.

  • I usually do all the laundry at our house. Our laundry area is downstairs and I'm having a c-section in a few weeks so I wont be able to do laundry for around a week and diapers have to be done every other day. I wrote out instructions for DH and MIL so they could do it. It wasn't a big deal to MIL but DH looked like he was trying to read a foreign language.
