Got my official dates and a DH freak out

Today I was given my official calendar. I will start meds on 5/7 and have an estimated ER date of 5/18. DH freaked out last night. He's on IVF overload and we talked for like 2 hrs about how he's scared of everything and is afraid that he won't be ready to be a father. In the end he's on board with everything, but is still terrified. I'm scared sh!tless myself, but this is what we signed up for. My head is spinning today.
3 ectopic pregnancies (EDD's 1/30/12-tube removed, 6/2/12-methotrexate and 10/2/12-methotrexate)
IVF and Natural FET resulted in BFN's and a hole in our wallets
Natural BFP #4 on 9/7/12 gave us our miracle on 5/18/13

Re: Got my official dates and a DH freak out

  • My DH is the same way... Simply terrified! We don't have our official dates yet (not until I start BCPs) and our ER is in April. It's soooo sooooo soon! Very very scary!

  • I can't express how much it helps to know that I'm not alone with these feelings and emotions. This process is tough and having people that understand, really makes a difference.

  • I think that DH management can be one of the most difficult aspects of IF. It sounds like you were able to talk yours off the ledge last night, which you may have to do a few more times before this is all done. Good luck to you!

  • Squee for your calendar! How exciting! I totally understand where your DH is coming from - I myself sometimes have those thoguhts...

    I guess the good thing is that if you do get pg on your IVF cycle (and I am praying that you do) you get a long 9 months to get used to it Smile I have no doubts that you will be amazing parents, delino!

    This was one of the things that helped him calm down a little.

  • I think my DH and I felt the same way. My mom tells me that "I've had too much time to think about being a mom". Some days I know I'll be a fantastic mom and other days I totally freak out about it. IF messes with your head. Hang in there. {{HUGS}}

    I love that term "DH management". And it really is so true! Good thing men don't have to do the physical aspects of IVF since they can barely handle the mental part of it.
