We have been using like a bouncy seat thing since DS was about 6months. It has worked great. He has to be contained or he will put something in his mouth or climb off/ jump off of something. But now he is 17 mos and is really too big for the seat. Yesterday I saw him almost tip the whole thing over trying to get a toy that he dropped off the floor.
Re: What do you do with LO when you shower?
I shower while she naps, or my little peanut will still chill in her jumperoo near the doorway so i can take a quick one.
When its just one parent at home and C is awake, C takes a shower too.

If I don't shower while he's sleeping then I put him in his crib and try to be fast. He just sits in there and plays. DS1 just watches cartoons in my room if he is home and awake.
Same here. If I absolutely have to shower while he's awake, then he stays in the bathroom with a bunch of toys and a snack while I hurry.
If DH is home, he takes him, sometimes he's still asleep but otherwise, since our bathroom is right across the hall from his bedroom, I put him in his room with his toys, baby gate across the door and shower with the bathroom door open so we can "chat" while I'm showering.
I was trying to use his jumperoo but had the same problem with him almost tipping himself out of it and had to change stragegies.
GL!
I usually shower in the evening after I put LO to bed as right now I am a single parent. When H was around he typically watched DS and vice versa when we each showered.
I'm actually surprised you put a 17 month old in a bouncy seat and would expect them to stay there. My son would go nuts if I tried to do that.
This for me too.

I either lock her in the bathroom with me or she showers with me.
Lately I've tried giving her the roam of the downstairs while I shower. She brought a bunch of toys into the bathroom and sat on the floor and waited for me.

I shower when DD's in the crib. On a good day, I wake up before her and can grab a nice shower and get ready before she wakes (well, usually, she wakes up at some point while I'm getting ready but entertains herself a little while). If that doesn't happen, I shower when she goes down for her nap.
I had baby gear in the bathroom until she was about 10-11 months old, though. We cycled through the bassinet, RnP, bouncy chair, exersaucer, and then jumperoo. It worked out great, she just doesn't like being contained that long anymore.
Same here. We have a clear shower door, so I can see him and talk to him while I shower. He's got a drawer of toys in the bathroom that he can play with (the other cabinets are locked) or lately he'll sit right outside the shower door and read a book. He points to things in the book like crazy, so lately most of my shower has been me saying "that's a dog. that's a bunny. that's a horse" while washing my hair, shaving my legs, etc.
He's just used to being/playing in there. We would put him in the bouncy seat when he was a few months old while we showered until he started crawling, etc. Then he's just been in there playing around with toys for 10-ish mins while we shower.
I can't believe you're still putting your 17 month old in a bouncy seat and he hasn't tipped it over yet. Holy cow!
I used to put my first daughter in the high chair and wheel it in the bathroom. I would give her cheerios on the tray.
I can't shower with #2 if she is awake. She gets into everything! Like a fool I sold our high chair because I was sick of cleaning it. I am petrified she'll tip the chair with the booster seat. So I shower before DH leaves or after I work out at naptime.

Proud VBAC, natural birth, breastfeeding, cloth diapering momma!
Usually I shower in the morning before he is awake.
In his eyes, confinement = death since about 6 months, so no way I could shower and keep him happy at the same time. Sometimes he showers with me.
