To those of you who have baby boys, I'm just curious. dd is 5mos, and my sister just had a little boy 2 weeks ago. They elected not to get him circumcised. I've only known a few guys in my life who weren't circumcised, and they had nothing but problems. There must be cleanliness issues too, for babies/children. It seems unfair to the child - why not just get it over with when they are young and it's still mostly painless? If he wants to get circumcised as an adult, gah! the pain!
So my question is: do you think circumcision should be legally mandated, for the sake of little boys everywhere? It seems selfish not to. Looking forward to your thoughts!

Well, if this isn't MUD (made up drama) then you should at least know that circumcision is a very controversial topic. Certain areas of the United States have very low rates of infant circ's, and some have very high rates.
I live in an area with high rates and let my DH make the final decision on whether to circ our son or not, since he's got a penis, and I don't.
Did you know that San Francisco actually made it illegal a few years ago? The ruling has since been overturned, but I'm betting very few little boys are circ'd in hospitals there.
Making it legally mandatory goes against everything this country stands for, FREEDOM! Sure, the little boys don't have the freedom of choice (which is where a lot of the controversy against it comes from), but the parents can chose to do it or not.
Also, in the Jewish faith it is tradition to have a bris (I think that is what it's called) on the baby's 8th day of life where he is circ'd in a ceremony. Jewish boys are not (usually) circ'd in hospitals.

"What's MUD?" A reference to /b/. Yup. Definitely MUD.
That's actually not true.

I agree. Sounds like a fire starter for sure. But what is /b/ referring to?
If this isn't MUD, then you are incredibly ignorant, to say the least. Please educate yourself.

*I am pretty sure this is mud, but I responded anyway so that others can view the links if interested.
No! The US is one of few countries that have this large of a population circumcised. IT is essentially an aesthetic procedure that has little to do with health...we did have our LO circumcised because I lost that battle with DH.
