10 week head control

I'm looking at exersaucers for DS because he's becoming more interested in being upright and seeing the world around him and seems to be getting bored more easily sitting back in his infant rocker. It seems like extersaucers are recommended for 4-5 month olds though and I don't want to put him in one if he's too young.

That said, I feel like he has really good head control. He loves sitting up in my lap and even standing straight up. He prefers this to me cradling him unless I'm feeding him. His head does get tired sometimes but it never falls completely back. Is this normal head control for a 10 week old? He's been able to lift his head from the day he was born.

Re: 10 week head control

  • I was thinking of the same thing for my LO. I actually put him in the saucer, but he cried for the 1 minute he was in there. I think it was because he was too short and his head was practically in the seat. Instead, I recently tried the Bumbo seat. It gives him the ability to see the world around him and allows him to also practice his head control. I only keep him in it for a few minutes because he does get tired, but you might want to try that as an alternative.

  • My LO is 11 weeks and loves the bumbo.  He will sit in it forever and look around.  I would consider a bumbo before an exersaucer at this age.

  • My son is 8 weeks and does this too! I was wondering if it was too early for the bumbo? I need to go check the consignment stores and get one.
