I want to switch to CDs. DH is on board, and LO doesn't go to daycare. He does however, spend at least one night a month at my mom's. How do I convice her that cloth is not a bad thing? Her last experience with CDs is second hand, and over 20 years ago. She has a friend who CDed her kids and they both had constant diaper rashes and she's just 100% against it. When the kids (mom's godchildren) stayed with her, she used dispaosables and they apparently didn't have rashes. But whatever.
I would really like her to use cloth on DS, but I don't know how to convince her. I'm not doing it to save the environment, or to save baby from chemicals. I'm just doing it to save money, so it's not a huge deal. I just want her to give it a chance.
Re: I need help.
It actually ends up being more than one night a month, dpending on the month. But I don't really care if she does, I was just wondering if there was a way to show her that it's not like she's thinking of. I mean, there are CD's that are just like disposables, right? I'm sure she's thinking of a peice of fabric, pinned, and then plastic covers. She's not THAT old, but she does remember when disposables became widely available.
I think once she sees what CDs look like now, she'll be sold. Just go about your business buying adorable diapers that quickly snap/Velcro shut and show her what you get. I actually brought my mom to a CD 101 class at a local shop and she was fascinated. She watches my LO on occasion and has no problem with it. Honestly I think she's proud of herself that she knows about the different kinds now.
GL!
