Thanks for the big box of baby sh**, Blue Cross

I was having a really great day yesterday until I walked into the front door to a package with my name on it. Huh? I didnt order anything. A lovely letter addressed to this "new mom" congratulated me on my pregnancy and was filled with a ton of samples from my insurance company. O.M.G. You would think they double check before sending these types of things out. I know, I know it is just an automated mailing & they were not out to get me and in fact would be pretty awesome if, in fact, I WAS pg but ugh!! Would you write an email to complain? Thanks for letting me vent!

I am so sorry you had to go through this. Something similar happened to me several weeks ago....not even 1 week after my D&C!!! It sure upset me too but I just let go and moved on. Maybe I should have called and let them know that they need to review who they send these letters/packages to. I mean, if they see a surgical center sending a claim for a D&C to them after a confirmed pregnancy, they should have that on file and act accordingly!!

I know exactly how you feel! I got the same kind of packet from Avmed.

I also got a onesie in the mail the week after my m/c from gilt.com as a thank you for purchasing the bella bands that I had ordered when I first found out. NOT COOL. I literally had a break down crying in the kitchen. Worst marketing ever (unless you are pregnant, of course)!

((hugs)) I probably wouldn't contact them about it, even though it really sucks. I haven't gotten anything that big but when I get bay magazines or things of that sort in the mail, I put them in a box in our guest room closet. When I am pregnant again I know I will want to look at those things but I just can't do it right now.

Yes I would write a letter to complain- or call and complain- seriously- if they have the information that you were pregnant- then they have the information that you had a d&c and that the pregnancy ended in miscarriage.... I am sure the departments that deal with sending that package arent in the loop with suchg info... but BlueCross needs to make sure that they have all the info before sending such a package

That really sucks, I am so sorry. I got samples from the big formula brands close to my due date which was hard enough, but that close to my d&c would have just been ugly. ((((hugs))))

Oh Lord, that would have killed me. I'm so sorry, that is BEYOND awful. I wouldn't just write an email to complain, I would drive to the Blue Cross headquarters and throat punch Mr. Blue Cross myself.

ETA: After reading all the responses and seeing how many others have received these packages from their insurance companies, I'm worried I'm going to get one! I've gotten a couple of letters about picking a pediatrician and the Healthy Pregnancy program, but nothing other than that. I'm scared!

Well that had to sting. Maybe you can take it to a church or something to give to a new mom in need so some good can come out of it. I actually had my dr office call a week after my M/C to schedule my 8 week apt. Really? Look at my effing chart before you make these calls you jerk. Nothing like a little salt in the wound huh? Hope today is a better day for you!

Yea, I understand how you feel. It's really hard to get that stuff in the mail.

I had to call my hospital to tell them to stop sending me things about taking classes and such, and I even had my D&C at that same hospital. The girl on the other end of the phone in the education office sounded horrified and didn't know what to say to me. I didn't feel bad though, they should have some sort of un-preregistering policy in place for all of their D&C patients. It's ridiculous.

ughhh I know it sucks so bad!..I had ordered a baby book and it came a week after my mmc (so I can relate)....my husband asked if he should throw it away and I said no, put it somewhere where I can't see it and maybe soon we can pull it out again!...thats my wishful thinking anyways....((((hugs))))

I work in a bulding which is connected to 2 Blue Cross buidings. So kpowers, thanks for the throat punch idea.. if i get one of these boxes, I may just start throat punching random Blue Cross employees on the shuttle to the parking garage .

On the other hand..it may just be a fantasy... unless I win Mega Millions tonight .

I think this is a good suggestion. Get rid of the box and try to forget it showed up. Hopefully next time around, you will be able to enjoy the gift boxes that randomly show up at your door. (((HUGS)))
