There is an article in yahoo news that describes how strawberry fraps at starbucks and other types of jams use a certain dried insect for the red coloring. I and sorry my phone won't let me link the article. I understand they are try to find alternatives to manufactured coloring but it still grossesme out a bit?

Eh, if this surprises you- then you'd also be surprised what's 'allowed' in canned goods, and other foods as per how many insect parts are allowed and whatnot.
Doesn't bother me so much. However I won't eat those 'chocolate covered grasshoppers' or the like. Plus I won't drink the Tequelia that has the worm in it.
You "mostly" feed your kids fresh produce. Really? We eat healthy for sure, and they get more then enough fruits and veggies and I LOVE all veggies and eat tons but I certainly don't eat mostly produce.
I could never pick up an insect and eat it but used as an ingredient in something else doesn't bother me at all, as long as it is an organically raised insect, of course, LOL.
You would be really amazed at the source for some of the ingredients in pharmaceuticals.
Protein!

It's everywhere. Yogurt is the main thing we eat that has it.
Ever look into the "natural" source of most of the vanilla flavoring out there? That will also make you say "ewwwwww" and look for vanilla extract and vanilla bean in the ingredients list, and good luck finding them anywhere.
This. If you eat peanut butter or anything with flour in it, you're eating bugs. You can't avoid it.
