Prenatal Vitamins & Morning Sickness

Whenever I take my prenatal vitamin in about ten minutes time I get really sick then I feel fine. Anyone else having problems with prenatal vitamins and morning sickness? If so, have you found anything to help because it's not fun to eat, take the vitamin, then see it all again?

Re: Prenatal Vitamins & Morning Sickness

  • Try taking them right before you go to bed at night.  I found that I feel a lot better taking them at the end of the day.  Mine made me sick if I took them in the morning too.  Good luck!!  :)

  • I didn't get sick (just a slightly unsettled stomach) when I started taking prenatals a few months before TTC, but I got these nasty fishy burps for hours after taking them.  I switched brands and now I have no problem at all.  Maybe another brand will work better for you too?

  • Try taking them with dinner.

  • I take them before I go to bed with a couple of crackers or granola bar.

Yes I take them at night as I'm brushing teeth and getting ready for bed...

  • i also take mine right before bed, long enough after dinner so that i can absorb the nutrients the right way while I sleep.

  • I had the same problem and I switched to a brand with a smaller dosage. I now take one vitamin, three times a day. This helped with the nausea. It's called New Chapter Organics Perfect Prenatal. They are expensive, but worth it.
  • I find if I take mine on an empty stomach, I will get sick.  I always take mine right before I go to bed, my stomach is usually still somewhat full from dinner, and if you do end up getting nausea from the vitamin, you won't know because you're sleeping.

  • I take mine after I have eaten dinner, so I have a totally full stomach, and I'm doing good.  On an empty stomach or with my usual light breakfast they would make me sick as a dog.

  • Try taking flinstones childrens vitamins or some childrens gummies. That's what my OB told me. I am a little over 20 weeks and I still can't take prenatals without getting sick!

  • When I was pregnant with my first EVERYTHING made me nauseous. My OB said it was ok to "chew two Flintstones" right before bed. I guess although they weren't prenatal it was better than nothing.

  • I've been doing the flintstones thing- 1 in the AM and 1 in the PM.  I barf all day long anyway though, so I doubt it's really making much difference lol. But at least they taste kinda good and are chewable instead of horse pills.
