Cloth Diapering

gDiapers

OK, I am new here and have a question about cloth diapers.  My first baby my hubby and I bought all we needed to get started and then because of moving, staying with in laws and other distractions, we were never able to give them a proper go.  With my second baby we just went commercial disposables.  Now we are going to have our third baby and would really like to get smart and give cloth diapering a real chance.  I have seen the gDiapers and were wondering what your opinions on them were?  if you have used them?  what you've heard about them?  Thanks for the feedback!!!

Re: gDiapers

  • Some love 'em, most hate 'em.

If you're looking for a hybrid diaper, look in to Flips - they work the same in theory as gdiapers, with both disposable and cloth inserts, and there are seconds available right now on cottonbabies.com - it makes them about $10 less a PIECE.

FWIW, I think gdiapers is more about the hype and the amount of money they've been able to pump into their advertisements, rather than being a sound cloth diapering investment.

  • I think they're just okay.  I prefer everything else I have over them.  But we still have, and from the rare time to time, use them.

  • I use the Econobum covers with prefolds and Flip inserts when traveling and I have great success.  When at home I use a BumGenius mixture of 4.0's, Elementals and Freetimes.
  • I hate gDiapers and I've only been using them for 2 weeks. (Newbie too). I plan on listing them all on ebay. They leak and are a PITA to have to snap the liner in and out all the time.

Second flips, love these. Thirsties are great too. And my bumgenius 4.0's for nighttime. I have some GroVia at home waiting for me to try out too.

  • I am new on this board, but I have been cloth diapering since my son was 6 weeks old (17 months old now). We use bumgenius almost exclusively, I have a couple fuzzibunz, but the snaps are hard sometimes when he is squggily. I looked into gdiapers before he was born, and it seemed to me like it was going to be a hassle. I looked into some plans (Jillian's drwers) where they send you a mix of a few different types to try and at the end of the trial, you send back what you didn't like and they will give you your money back. I ended up buying a bunch of different types, trying them out, and I liked the bumgenius the best. I have also found some seconds at cottonbabies for $10, or look on line around the holidays for cheaper prices.
  • We love our G's!  They have worked great so far for our 7 week old.  We don't use them overnight though and you do have to change them on a regular basis.  We also have some BG's and Prefolds with covers that we use.  I love all of them for different reasons.  The G's are the best because they are trim and a lot of times if she is just wet I can just pop out the insert and reuse the shell and cover!  GL

ETA:  They are expensive but I got them used on Ebay for realllllly cheap!  I got 10 size smalls for $50.  Can't beat that!!

  • I still think it's strange that they velcro in the back.

You won't think this is strange when your LO starts to crawl or when you have a toddler who loves the sound of aplix coming undone.

  • DD is 20mos old and she has never ONCE tried to undo her diaper. We just started CD'ing 2wks ago and they are all velcro too.

Just saying, not all babies run around in a diaper and take their diaper off because they're not clothed...

  • Ditto the PPs- don't do it.  There are so many other great brands out there. GL!

  • I like them. They aren't the best but those relatives that are hesitant to cloth diaper are more willing to use these. (at least my relatives)
