Myla had shots last Wed & a temp of 102 that night. She was so tired she went right to sleep with no meds. The next morning she was 103. Gave her some meds and it didn't come back. This past Thursday she was whiney and not herself, by that night she was 102- 103. Gave her meds she FINALLY fell asleep at 10:30pm. She was up screaming and burning up 104.5 at 3am. More meds and a bath she was back to sleep by 4am. I took her to the dr in the morning. You are doing the right thing if the temp doesn't go away come back. That's just it the temp only goes down to 102 even with ibuprophen (sp?) I was told to give her Tylonol too. We were told to go have blood work done just incase. Of course the lab was closed so we had to go to the hospital. It sucked to say the least they had to poke her 3 times and go fishing all around to find a vein. She was screaming and we were both sweaty by the time it was over. Her temp was down & she fell asleep. DH and I ran some erronds. We got home around 5pm & Myla was whining and tired although she had slept most of the afternoon. DH went to take her temp, dry diaper and temp of 105.1. We threw her in a bath to try to cool her down and gave her Tylonol. After the bath her temp hadn't changed at all. I asked my mom to watch DD1 and we headed to the hospital. By the time we got there it was 103.7 The ER doc was so excited that she had already had bloodwork done. At that point I was happy we didn't have to do it again too. The blood looked ok, but they wanted to rule out a UTI, they put a bag on her *tinker* to try to catch some pee. I nursed her, we gave her water & apple juice but after an hour still no pee. It was almost 9pm and she was falling asleep. They finally had to use a cathiter to get some urine. That came back clean and by 9:45pm they figured it was some sort of virus. Her temp stayed around 103 all day Saturday but by Sunday she was back to her normal trouble-making-self. That little monster scared the crap out of me. I never thought I'd be so happy to see her making a mess & getting into everything. YAY my baby is back!
