We dropped the cat nap a couple of weeks ago, increased our son's awake time, and his naps got a lot better and longer, uninterrupted. However, we had to do early bedtimes between 6-6:45 because the second nap was still ending too early for a later bedtime.
What started happening is he would wake up for the day between 5:20-5:50am which is understandable since he'd already slept 11-12 hrs.
We hate that early wake up so we've decided to try and shorten the naps a bit and give a mini cat nap again to get to a later bed time. Last night we had him out and about and his naps totaled less than normal. We gave him a cat nap and bed time was at 7:20pm. He slept without a peep until 6:30. First time in FOREVER!
Anyone else?
Re: Does anyone's LO still have a cat nap at 6.5 months?
My almost 9 month old still has a catnap most days.
I was never one to worry about this though.
She sleeps when she's tired. Plays when she's not.
I don't have much of a napper though and no matter how long/often she naps..she still goes to bed by 7:30 and is up by 6:30ish.
Still have it here and I don't forsee losing it anytime soon.
We sometimes do but we're working on an early bedtime (6:30) these days because our DD was waking between 5:30/6:00 most days and needed more sleep. She wakes 2 times at night so if she were STTN I would have let bedtime be later at 7. We're also working on a three nap schedule so days when her first 2 naps are long and end around 3 then we don't have a third nap (she'll resist it). Days when the first 2 naps are short then we do a third nap to bridge gap to bedtime.
I hope we'll eventually get 11 hours with a 7pm bedtime and a 6:30 wake up with 2 naps but that is asking a lot right now.
