I work at a hospital that has pumps. To maximize my output, will I be better off using their pumps or my Medela Freestyle? I'll confirm, but am sure the hospital pumps are hospital grade.

I rented a hospital pump for 2 months and purchased an ameda after that. I get the same amount from the ameda as I got with my rental. To be honest, I get the absolute most from my manual pump, it's just not feasible to use at work.
I used the hospital pump when I had DD and when she was in the NICU. I bought a PISA which worked ok for a while then my supply dropped really low. I have now rented a Symphony and in just a week my output has gone from less than a oz to 2, even 3 oz per time. Of course I'm also taking herbs, drinking lots of fluids, all that other stuff but I feel the hospital pump is slightly better. I would definitely use it if I had access to one at work. I keep the hospital pump at work and the PISA at home when I can't nurse DD for whatever reason.
I've never used anything except for the hospital pump because I rented it the day I left the hospital. I love it, though. I only have mine turned up half-way on the suction and it works great. I'd recommed it to anyone.
I have used one on occasion at work, but I definitely relied on my own for a few reasons...
1) I could pump with my own in my office, but had to go up to the lactation room on the maternity floor to use theirs (if you have to go there anyway for a room to pump, this won't be an issue). i just preferred to sit at my desk and use the internet or catch up on work while I pumped
2) the hospital only had a limited number of pumps and if a lot of patients were using them, or if someone else was in the lactation room when I went up there, I would sometimes have to wait for one to be available. because I had set times in my schedule for pumping, waiting 15-30 min for a pump to be available was not always possible.
I also did not notice a difference in the amount of milk I pumped, only that with the hospital grade one, I was usually able to pump a few minutes less...

I used the hospital pumps while DD was still there and again when she had to go back for surgery. I also rented the hospital pump (the Medela Symphony) and really liked it. When she went back for surgery, we didn't have a room yet, so I used the public pumping room and it had 2 Symphonys. All I had to do was bring my parts. It worked out really well.
I only work per diem and purchased a single pump for home use, so when I'm at work I use the pump in the lactation room. I get so much more than the rare times I pump at home and it's more comfortable!
