My kids go to a babysitter one day a week (Thurs). Friday I posted a pic online of a splotchy red rash on half my sons face, and a 99.7 low grade temp. I wanted to see if anyone had seen/ heard of anything like it. The next day both symptoms were gone so I wasn't concerned. Today, 5 days later, my sitter texts me that she is concerned about my sons mystery rash and doesn't want to take the kids tomorrow. I assured her He was fine, fever free, and that her kids had already been exposed the week before. She still doesn't want to take them. And she had the nerve to remind me that per her contract, she should still get paid. If my kids were sick, I wouldn't hesitate to keep them and would have no problem paying her. But they're not and she's choosing to take the day off. I'm not sure she gets that I just came back from mat. leave 2 mo ago, I have no PTO, and that call ins at my job can lead to no raise, write ups, and even being fired. I would obviously like to save my call ins for true emergencies and this is not. I'm so upset!

Re: R u freaking kidding me?
If he is completely symptom-free, then I think it's time to find a new sitter. She isn't just being a pain, she is in violation of her contract with you (she's choosing not to watch your kids for no valid reason whatsoever.)
If he still has some symptoms though, maybe a trip to your pediatrician would help ease her mind and get you back to work faster?
I would be upset too. School policy where I am is "fever free for 24 hours".... Is there anything in the contract stating the length of time you have to wait to send your DS after being sick?
Sorry you have to deal with that!

Can you try and get a doctor's note for her?
Otherwise I agree with the previous poster and I would be giving her two options with the explanation that your son is not sick nor had the rash since the day it occurred/5 days, etc. Her options are she watches your kids and get paid or she does not watch your kids and does not get paid.
Either way, I'm pretty sure I'd start looking for a new provider. Once she starts stuff like this there is no telling what other stuff she may try to pull.
I would agree with this, but honestly, after such a confrontation, I would no longer feel comfortable leaving my child(ren) in her care.
