I bought the motorola 2.8" video monitor. We didn't have a video one with ds, but I thought I'd enter the new phase of monitors. On amazon it got decent reviews and it was for sale at BJs for $129.99. I opened it up today to play with it and it seems pretty good....but I don't have anything else to compare it to.
Just as an FYI - I've been told by multiple mothers that unless your house is huge or you are on a different floor and you really just can't hear the baby, monitors do more harm than good.
They've all told me that what happens is, every single sound & movement the baby makes, you wake up in the night wondering if he/she is ok. And you end up even more sleep deprived than you need to be. If you're only a room away, you'll hear the baby with or without the monitor.
I am going to just get a sound monitor and most likely will only use it when I'm in the TV room on the other side of the house and stuff like that.

We started off the with Summer Infant one that's around $200. It was a piece of sh*t. It broke after only 8 months and shame on me, but I should have checked the Amazon reviews first because it got lots of slams for being junk.
DD is 17 months and I still use it daily. It's one of my favorite baby items!
