Cloth menstrual pads

I've finally decided to make the switch after months of contemplation but now I don't know which to choose! I'm stuck between Luna, party in my pants and sckoon. Please recommend your pads and why you love them. Also how many should I get, my cycle is usually 4 days long with two heavy days and two light days.

  • I'd recommend getting at least one of each to test run them before buying more. Personally, I thought I'd like Sckoon...but I hated them (slid all over, bunched and the inserts are too fidgety to fold and stuff). I also tried a Domino Pad...which I liked, but the snap came off immediately. So PIMP was the winner for me, great construction, great performance, simple to use, nice size options (though I wish I could have seen them in person before buying...because a couple of the sizes weren't what I expected at first just from looking online, but still useful.)

  • I picked the ones that looked the best to me and luckily that worked out. I have Moonbows, which I love - they are wool backed and in solid colors; I also have Pink Lemonade, which are colorful and fleece backed and she also carries raw silk, which I like for liners; and I have some other random ones from different WAHM stores that I picked because I liked the fabrics (I really like my smjae ones but her shop is now closed). I have way too many, I think it may be good to have 3 overnight ones, 8-10 regular ones, and 8 liners assuming you would do laundry every 2 to 3 days but I do tend to have extras.

  • Also know that your flow may change. I used to be 4 days heavy, but since changing to diva cup, I now only have 2 days of flow.

I vaguely recall while "researching" what I wanted to use that commercial products actually make you bleed more (don't remember why). So just bear that in mind when you go to buy. You might now want to buy 2doz pads when you're flow may decrease.
  • I love PIMP. Mainly, I like them because I have had them for years and the snaps are still like new. I throw them in the wash and hang them to dry, but since I got my first one in...2006? 2007? I think they're holding up really well. I love getting 5+ years out of something that replaces a disposable item! Plus, they are comfy and almost never leak, which isn't something I could say for regular pads.

  • I have glad rags and have used them for over a decade with wonderful results. Mine are the organic cotton ones. www.gladrags.com

  • I have some PiMP and like them, but they're not my favs. My top two are Homestead Emporium and Essence of Eve.

  • I love my Lunapads!  I never did try another brand so can't compare.  I was lucky that the first ones I tried I fell in love with.  Their small company offers excellent customer service.  Their design is very user friendly being able to keep the same "pad" but switch out just the liners throughout the day.  And you can double up on liners if your flow is heavy.

  • Gladrags are my favorite! Super comfortable and easy to adjust according to how heavy your flow is. Plus, they have absolutely no synthetic material in them.
