Recommend your affordable glass storage!

I am finally getting around to updating my "tupperware" (we have lost enough that my current collection is just bits and pieces) and want to replace it with a glass storage set.  Has anyone found an affordable glass storage set they would recommend?

I am also up for alternative/creative storage options.  I was thinking of buying a set of mason jars - they seal tightly, can be washed and reused, and tend to be cheaper in bulk than "storage containers".  They are also big enough to put in leftover pasta, batter, chopped veggies, etc.  Anyone have any other creative ways to store food?

  • I love my mason jars.  Cheap, made in America, and come in a ton of different sizes from a few ounces to a half gallon.

  • I got a TON of Pyrex bowls as wedding gifts.  I love them.  They have plastic lids, but I'm fine with that.  Just don't want the plastic touching my food, especially in the microwave.

Seconded.  I use mason jars for nearly everything!  I wish I could find the swing top jars cheaper though.

  • We use glass jelly jars, salsa jars, tomato sauce jars. We just peel off the label and run them through the dishwasher.

This.  The lids are BPA free as well.  We also use our mason jars all the time.  A great storage option.
