Bring on the hillbilly

Sitting in the driveway with bare feet and playing with a stick. If only I cut off those jeans into shorts!

  • If you cut off the jeans, you have to cut the top too to make it a half top. And maybe add some mud pies. AWESOME lol

Why even use clothes? I should have just stuck her out there in a diaper!

Bwahahaha. Well h3ll, why even have a diaper on? Just put her out there, on a "bear skin" rug (and by bear skin, I mean a towel that looks like a bear skin, or tiger, or cheetah), nekked, and with a sparkling glass of Bud Light or Keystone.

  • Evie has some overalls she can loan Hannah to complete the look. :)
  • Haha, very cute but she's not nearly dirty enough yet!

No no no...Nattie Light! Love it.  I can't wait for the days of overvalls with no undershirt and dirty as h3ll and who knows what kind of treasures in pockets!

  • I can't help but cringe at your use of the word "hillbilly".  It is a very derogatory word, especially to those born and raised in Appalachia.

Is this post serious or a joke? I mean that in all sincerity as it seems silly to be offended by this.

I couldn't agree more Hep. Pretty soon we won't be able to say 'baby' without someone taking offense....getting a bit rediculous....

And I REALLY don't think the OP meant to offend anyone at all by this post and picture.

  • I do find the term offensive but I am not flaming or trying to be rude in any way by stating my opinion.  I was born and raised in rural appalachia in a low income family.  I hated being refered to as a "hillbilly" as it denotes an unkempt, lazy, and uneducated sterotype.

  • I'm from Texas and spent the last 12 years living/working in Brooklyn. Guess how many terms I've had used in reference to my home state both joking and not?  It doesn't bother me. I'm proud of my roots, and people can say what they want. Be proud of who you are, words are just words. Hillbilly, redneck, hick, inbred, backwoods, etc., if someone is using a term in a hateful manner, that's a reflection on them, not you.

    Yes

  • I guess then my reply to you would be what term wouldn't be offensive in this instance? I understand the connotation is negative, but there's generally a reason for that, no? Just because you're from Appalachia, and from a low income family, does not make you a hillbilly. Now if you'd been playing shoeless outside with a stick, and someone caught you in such a disarray, then you might be a hillbilly. Wink

Come on. I only made the joke because it was discussed on UO or FFFC. Relax.
