I think this is what my nephew had. He would get this rattling sound when he would breathe when he was an infant. He grew out of it after a few months. It was scary for my brother and SIL at first. They had to go see a specialist, etc. It made for a stressful first month or so with the little dude. He is totally fine now.

We asked the pediatrician about why our son was making funny noises when he was breathing. She said it was laryngomalacia and not to worry about it, that they outgrow it, and that her own son (now 4 months) had it but no longer does. And, as per wiki, it is very common. I am not concerned.
My son was diagnosed with this by am ENT (ears, nose, throat) specialist. Although his breathing sounds funky, both the ENT and pediatricians concerns were his lack of weight gain. The ENT also is treating him for acid reflux as those tend to go hand in hand. We went to a 2 week follow up and my son had gained 1 1/2 pounds which was a huge accomplishment.
