We like the name Olivia - however as it is so popular we are thinking of Lydia. what do you think>? Also, just wondering- what comes to mind when you hear Lydia. I like it but wonder if its not great for a woman- more of a little girl name.
I love Lydia so much more than Olivia. I think it's precious and timeless.

I like Lydia, don't love it, but it could grow on me. I picture a little girl in my fifth grade class with the name; cute, outgoing, sporty girl with long wavy blonde hair.
It's ok. Am I the only one who gets a super 80-early 90's vibe from this name? I dont know what it is though but it lumps right in there with Jennifer, Jessica, Tiffiany, Tina... Was there a character in Sweet Vally High or Baby Sitters Club with that name?

My IVF Journey
I like it better than Olivia only because Olivia is so darn popular. The only Lydia I know IRL is my 65 year old aunt. Love her...but didn't really care for the name until more recently. It does make me think of chlamydia a bit though.
I know that I often don't care for old-fashioned names because I can't see them on a little girl...but as so many others would say...keep in mind that she will be using it for many more years as an adult than as a child!

I LOVE Lydia. It's our top choice for a girl and it actually ousted the super-popular Olivia (my former favorite) for its similar sound. A lovely choice.
I LOVE the name Lydia, but im partial, it is my DD's name! Honestly, I think its Timeless and great for both a lil' girl and a adult!! One of the reason we fell in love with it! We actually found a different spelling that has an "h" at the end, and we chose to spell her name that away, "Lydiah", but we adore her name and never second guessed it!! HTH
The name Lydia has definitely grown on me this year. Before, I always thought of the youngest Bennett sister in Pride and Prejudice, however, out of nowhere now I really like it.

It makes think of the movie Beetlejuice. The character Winona Ryder played was named Lydia.
The nn Liddy is cute though.

And this is why it was my favorite name pretty much all through my childhood. Loved Beetlejuice.
I find it interesting you think it too young sounding of a name because I always think it sounds to grown up for children.
