DS has been trying a lot of table/finger foods lately in addition to purees. My question is, when do you just transition over to strictly table food? I think it is at a year old?
Also, what are some examples of meals you give your LO's throughout the day? Do all meals include a fruit and veg?
I am worried if he just eats what I eat, maybe he won't get the nutrition he needs, because I do not eat fruit and vegetables at every meal. Advice?
Re: table food vs purees
Food right now is for fun, not nutrition. Nutrition should come from BM or formula at this point, so I wouldn't worry about not getting a fruit/veggie into him each time he smears food on his face.
And honestly, even as a toddler there are going to be meals where a fruit/veggie is not present. So, if you know you're going to MCD for lunch, try to feed him a healthy breakfast and dinner.
Regarding the transition, it depends on the baby. There are babies out there with no teeth until they are 14 months. This would mean more pur?es/soft table food than an 11 month old who has a full set of teeth.

Yeah, every baby is so different. I'd just trust your instincts.
I know babies that were done with purees at 7 months, some at over a year and some never got them at all.
At 8.5 months we're headed out of the puree stage. LO just isn't interested anymore. Nor was she ever really. She only ate like 1/4 of the puree amounts of other babies on here. The only reason she's still getting them is becuase I have some left to use. When that's gone, it'll just be table food. I feed it to her now as she's playing with her finger foods. She only has two teeth but does just fine with the table foods I do give her.
I rotate like this. If she gets her fruit in finger foods then she gets a puree in veggies. If she gets a veggie puree she gets fruit finger foods. I don't think she needs that for nutrition at this point though. It's just for me so I can keep track of where I am in my stash of baby food. Also, I think it's just a good habit to get into. (I want a LO likes everything and eats a balanced meal most of the time...might as well start early!) Somedays if I'm in a hurry her finger food is a couple goldfish crackers just to distract her while I shove the puree in.
There are days though where it's eggs and yogurt, no fruit and veggie. I just try to keep it balanced for the most part.
Whatever. It works for us. She's eating better this way actually and hey less work for me.
I buy those individual Bird's Eye steamer packs to have on for nights when I don't have a veggie to give her. They're done in like two minutes and come in handy. I actually have to pick some up to take on vacation with me. I also keep frozen fruit on hand just so I know I always have something for her.
