Babies: 6 - 9 Months

Diaper Bag Question..

Which diaper bag do you have and do you like it? Between my first daughter and DD#2 I have so many bags but none that I love.  They either aren't large enough or are too large to carry daily or too heavy.  I need something big enough though to fit all the baby stuff in as well as a couple small snacks for DD#1 and maybe a change of clothes (just incase).  But I don't want it to weigh a ton either.  Any suggestions?

Re: Diaper Bag Question..

  • I just use a back pack.  It is so much easier to handle when carrying the infant seat and holding DD1 hand when we are going somewhere.  I tried using a diaper bag after DD2 was born and it was to awkward and heavy carrying stuff for two kids.  The back pack works great.  I got a nice sturdy one from Target.

  • I have a vera bradley diaper bag and love it! Of course, you have to be a VB fan.  It is big enough, but not too big, flexible, and washable.

  • I have a Petunia Picklebottom.

I rarely spend money on stuff like that, but it was worth every penny.

I had 5 other diaper bags (handmedowns and gifts) and they all sucked. Too cutesy, too big, too awkward, crappy material etc. etc. blah blah blah.

  • I have two and I like both of them.  One is a Vera Bradley (I'm not a huge VB fan, but my sisters bought if for me) and it is very roomy, I can fit a LOT of stuff in it.  The downside is that I don't like juggling the shoulder bag when we're out by ourselves, it's always sliding down or getting in my way when I'm trying to juggle DD, the car seat, the stroller, etc. I reserve that one for longer outings when DH is with us.

My favorite, though, is my Columbia backpack style diaper bag.  I LOVE how it leaves me totally hands free and doesn't get in my way when I run errands.  I only have one LO, so the fact that there is slightly less space isn't an issue for me.  Not sure how much extra room you may need to haul essentials for two kid, but I cannot say enough great things about backpack style diaper bags in general.  For me, it's way more efficient than the shoulder bag!

  • I was going crazy with the graco diaper bag I registered for as it is huge, and I really don't need all that space. So this weekend at a consignment sale I scored a vera bradley diaper bag for $8 and I LOVE it! So, I second or third the vera bradley bags, it's easy to carry (for me) and it fits just what I need.:) GL finding the right one for you!

  • I have 3. I have 2 Thirty-One bags.. The smallest is called the "All In One organizer" and it's perfect for a couple diapers, wipe case, extra outfit, bib and burp cloth. It has 2 side pockets great for bottles or sippy cup. The other is "Organizing Utility Tote" I think. It's bigger and can fit a few toys plus the above. Then I have her BIG bag that is Graco Ben. It's perfect for when someone is watching her for the whole day.. Fits everything! I hardly use that one. I carry the All In One bag the most.

  • I love my Ju Ju Be "Be All". Genius design, comfortable messenger style. I love Petunia Pickle Bottom too but wish they didn't have the noisy velcro.

  • Are there any good stylish backpack style bags out there?  The Petunia Picklebottom ones are nice, but I dislike that the changing pad contraption is attached so I won't consider it.
