Anyone have a Boba carrier?

Just got mine today!  Trying to figure out all the buckles and adjustment straps though... It isn't very comfy so far, so I figure I'm doing something wrong.  Any tips?  The instructions weren't all that helpful.  Thanks!!

  • i have one and love it. i guess at first it is a bit overwhelming if you have never used it before. i suggest watcing videos on youtube, they helped me. i still  haven't figured out how to comfortably nurse him in it but i really love my booba it is a lifesaver when i go grocery shopping. i recently travel alone with him and it went great!

  • I got mine yesterday and love it! I didn't have any issues figuring it out. I'd also suggest youtube though, I watched a lot of videos for wrapping instructions!

  • Loosen the straps up and just start tightening them one at a time. Start with the waist strap so it is secure, pull the carrier up over baby and do the chest clip up (if you are carrying baby on your front make sure the chest clip is high up so it is easier to buckle), after that feels right start adjusting the two sets of straps (one under your arms and the other to pull the shoulder parts tighter). I hope you can get it so it is comfy for you. I am 33 weeks pregnant and still carry my 21 month old on my back and don't have any issues.
  • I love my Boba! What pattern did you get?

A few things to double check (the advice you've been given so far is good!)

    - The waist belt should be resting on your hips (where you would wear a big hiking backpack)

    - The arm straps can tighten on the front (where you pull down) or under your arms. I usually leave the under arm ones loose and tighten the ones on the front. If your baby is small, you will want to tighten the under arm ones to keep him/her secure in the carrier

    - Watch that the chest strap isn't too high. Try sliding it up and down to find the most comfortable position for you. I like my chest strap quite tight.

    - Be sure that your child is sitting low in the carrier and that his/her legs are in the proper position (you can see how the babies are sitting in the manual)

    - If you're using the stirrups, I find it helps to put in their feet, then slide the stirrup toward baby's bum. This keeps their legs in an L shape which is comfortable and secure

    - Any new carrier will need some time to "break in" Expect to do a bit of extra adjustment during that time because the materials are all so new. For the first few weeks I would have to adjust my Boba after 10 minutes of walking, but then it was good for the duration of the walk

You are definitely right: the carrier should be comfortable if it is on correctly! Don't wear a carrier that is pinching or straining. Keep adjusting it until it's just right!

I think it was called Lila, but that might be wrong.... It's a really pretty plum purple/gray pattern.  Thanks everyone for all the tips!  I'm sure we'll figure it out eventually!

  • We love our Boba! We recently just got one too... Here is a photo of my DH with ours. We really like how it is comfortable. You should check out some videos to see if you can adjust it to make it more comfortable. I like it more then the Ergo we us to have because I am petite and it fits better. :) image
