  • I have situation anxiety. I  have ativan for that. I know what my triggers are and try to avoid them. Would that work for you? I also, only take half of the pill just enough to take me off the ledge. I really think for me, just the thought of having them handy is enough for me to remain in control of myself.

I have a script for cymbalta and I have tried lexapro in the past and it just made me sick too.

  • Well I just started Prozac and have colonopine(?) to take as well. I pretty much had a breakdown this last week over my health issuess. I have GI symptoms as well among other symptoms. I know nothing about Atavan but if it is working take it for a while. I know all about anxiety. It was consuming my life and I was barely functioning. We sound similar. Let me know if you want to chat.

  • OP - are you seeing your regular doc for your meds or a psychiatrist who specializes in mental health?  I would definitely recommend the latter.

Yes, Atavan can become addictive and yes, you can build a tolerance, but any doctor who wants to yank it out of your hands after a week of having some much-needed quality of life (relief from GI symptoms finally) gets a huge side-eye from me.

The word you're looking for is SEX.  I promise.  No, it's not gender.  It's sex.  You're welcome.
  • What antidepressants have you tried? There are many that relieve anxiety symptoms-not just Lexapro and Cymbalta. Fluoxetine worked the best for me. I am no longer on meds and am able to manage my anxiety with self-talk, exercise etc. I am a psych RN so I know what I need to do to keep it under control. Many people take an antidepressant daily for their anxiety and then have a benzodiazepine (Clonazepam, Lorazepam, Alprazolam etc) available to take as needed when you are feeling really anxious so you are less apt to build up a tolerance. I am not surprised you had that reaction to Abilify. It tends to be activating and can make anxiety worse. Are you seeing a Psychiatrist? If not, I would suggest that you do since they specialize in this type of thing and have better knowledge of the meds used to treat them. Good luck!

  • Have you tried Cymbalta? There were other meds that made me really sick, but Cymbalta was the one for me. It is a wonder drug. Unfortumately, you may just need to try a bunch to find the right one.

    I wonder this too.
