I just had my NT scan and was told there's a 1 in 5 chance that the baby has a chromosome problem or heart defect. The NT measurement was high at 4.1 mm. I'm 26 and healthy and wasn't expecting this. I'm worried and having a CVS test next week. Have any second-time moms had results like this before and had a healthy baby?

Yes. We had a high measurement and were told we had a 2:5 chance of a chromosomal abnormality or heart defect. We did the CVS and by the end of the week had FISH results that indicated there were no chromosomal concerns. At 16 weeks we did another scan and then around 20 weeks did the echo scan for the heart. All was well.
I will be thinking about you and wishing you and your baby well throughout this process. It is an emotional one

My quad screen came back with an increased risk for Down's Syndrome last time. They sent us to MFM, where they did another u/s, couldn't find any physical defects, but still offered to do an amnio. We decided against the amnio, because it wouldn't have made a difference for us at that point (I think I was 16-18 weeks along by then) and we didn't want to take the risks associated with doing them. Our baby did not end up having Down's Syndrome or any other chromosomal abnormality.
I hope you get good results back from your CVS!
Just wanted to share a thought/perspective that the genetic counselor shared with me last week during our second meeting (result of my Down Syndrome odds coming back positive) that was helpful in thinking about the numbers:
The way odds are phrased can sound so huge/overwhelming/frightening. So convert the odds to a percentage, and that is usually a more "digestible" number. So, instead of a 1 in 5 chance, think of it as a 20% chance that your baby has a chromosome problem or heart defect.
