1st Trimester

Anyone heard of this morning sickness remedy?

So after a week of morning sickness at 5 weeks, I just started getting all day sickness yesterday. I called my obgyn office and was told to try tums along with ginger tea and toast. I took two tums and was really surprised to see that it actually gave me all day relief! I googled it and everything about tums is about heartburn. Anyone else using tums and actually getting relief from m/s?

  • I take 2 ginger root pills every single day and never get heartburn. Ginger is a natural and safe alternative to prilosec or prevacid. It even works better than Tums!

  • I think that's one of their uses (nausea) but most people take it for heartburn. I had wicked heartburn a few times already...so bad that it made me nauseous and popping 4 Tums definitely did the trick!

  • I didn't use Tums, Jolly Ranchers worked wonders for me.

  • never heard of TUMS either, sour candy is what works for me.

  • This would make sense since tums neutralize stomach acid...never thought of using them for it though.  I will definetely give them a try...
  • I find that the super minty tums can help make my nausea go away sometimes! They have tums breathmints now even, and those are the best!

  • Jolly ranchers worked for me too! But my teeth started getting sensative.  All that sugar.  So I stopped and moved on to gum and mints, which help too.
  • Hey ladies

I am 10 weeks and 5 days  and have been struggling with all day nausea since about week 7.  I have not heard of tums or jolly ranchers.  I thought of taking the herbal gravol made from ginger but the pharmasist said that she would not recommend it.  I am thinking that some tums and jolly ranchers will be worth a shot.  I am willing to give it a try.  So far the only thing that helps is eating very frequently and avoiding the foods I am averse to.  This does not help to minimize weight gain.  Hoping that the nausea goes away with the first trimester.  Almost there.  This little baby is gonna be worth it and is loved so much already.
