Mom's of girls. what kind of shoes does your DD wear with

Re: Mom's of girls. what kind of shoes does your DD wear with

  • If they are going to school, the only shoes allowed are Keens (or that style) and sneakers.  At home, on the weekends in the summer, it would depend on what we are doing.  The girls both have cute sandals that are more for dress, going out to eat, etc.  We will be getting them flip flops for the summer as well.  Unless we are getting dressed up for some nice occasion, they would wear any of the above other than the sandals and for nicer occasions, they would do the sandals.  I live in flip flops and sandals in the summer and love my Keens for my active things like the park, walks, etc.  I am not a huge shoe person and my kids typically own around 4-5 styles for each season so we make due - the ones you picked would be totally fine although I don't like white for kids since they are dirty in mins.

  • I am looking for something for DD right now.  She needs something she can easily put on and play outside in too.  I found a pair of mary janes by Merrill I am going to take her to go try on.  Not sure what else.  I don't want to get her a ton of shoes for summer.  We did have those sandals you posted when she was younger and liked them, just looking for something a little more durable this year as she is pretty rough and tumble.

    Those would look fine.

For my girls, it depends on the activity we're doing.  If they're playing at the park or doing alot of walking then I may put them in mary jane style tennis shoes (I usually buy cute ones at stride rite) or if its errands/church I would put them in dressy sandals.  I've even done Keen's.

  • I just bought her a pair of knock-off Keens at Kohls.  She has to have closed-toe for the playground.  She will also wear Mary Janes.  And LOVES flip-flops, just not for school.  She also has a pair of Twinkle Toe sneakers (she's pretty shoe crazy).

When she was a toddler, she lived in the style that you posted (DS did as well - just in brown - love those shoes on a little boy).

  • When they were babies it was always a white sandal. I would be two pairs at the beginning of summer so they kept one nice for parties and one pair could be every day. Now they wear flip flops or cute sneakers. Julia got blue sparkly low top converse this season, so most of the dresses we got have that shade of blue somewhere so they don't clash (it's her favorite color). We also got white dress sandals for Easter and any summer parties where I want them to look a little nicer.

  • Up to age 2 my girls all wore shoes like that all summer with dresses and shorts; whatever they were wearing (except very dressy). After age two they wore open-toed sandals and when they hit about 4/5 we added flip flops.

During the school year and with pants they wear velcro-closing mary janes (mostly pediped).

Am I the only person who never heard of keens? I think the shoes you linked are nice for the little ones.

  • We buy keen Mary Janes or sandals.  She runs and plays too much for those.  Too much stuff gets in them, and I am not buying lots of shoes.
  • The kids don't have many pairs of shoes. I tend to buy "fancy" sneakers and she wears them with dresses too. Fancy = twinkle toes or something sparkly.

  • DD wears mary jane crocs mostly, but she will wear twinkle toes with anything too.

  • How old?  Once they're old enough, I like the carefreeness of flip flops for summer.
