I just saw your post from the other day saying he was out of jail. Did you open the account? If he was not with you when you opened it, or didn't request for him to be on it, then he should never have been able to withdrawal funds. Did he go into the bank and take the money? Or did he have it electronically taken out? You need to contact your bank and ask them how he did it and why he was able to if he was not on the account. If he did it electronically, you need to go to your bank and say it was not authorized and have them investigate it. They may make you press charges, and they may be able to refund you that money, especially if it was an error on their part. Good luck!
Call or go into the bank. You would be surprised how easy it is for people to talk tellers into things. My in laws did this to us, and not only did fargo give us our money back, but credited us an additional 500 for messing up.

That is just heartbreaking. I am sorry that happened to you. Had you stopped using the joint account that is still open?
When me and my ex split I got all up in arms about wanting to change my beneficiary on all my accounts but then I realized for the next 16 years my ex will get the money anyways because he will have custody of my son. So as of yet I haven't bothered to change some of my accounts
Re: I'm just floored....
How did he get access to it?
I went to the bank, turned out they added our old joint account to my online banking instead of deleting it like I was told and creating a new one.
They refused to give me any sort of refund since his name was still listed and it was 'my fault' for not noticing his name on the account.
Oh well.
And to the PP asking about him still in jail......he was released. They gave him 8 months credit for a previous time he served.
