Babies on the Brain

Uh...is it me?

Or is this ridiculous?  (Posted on 6-9 mos)

Hi mamas! Do you want to see The Hunger Games? Come join The Bump and AMC Theaters for our next Bring Your Baby Matinees on April 3. We'll be showing the movie in a breastfeeding-friendly atmosphere, a theater with brighter lights and lower volume, stroller parking, and crying babies allowed!

I know she's little and she won't understand the movie, but there is no way I'd bring my older baby to this movie.  A newborn, sure.  But not an older baby...I mean, my 8 month old understands enough to be frightened.

Bump fail.

Edit:  Yeah, I totally didn't see the post below about the same thing.  ITeachK fail.  Stick out tongue

Re: Uh...is it me?

  • I just posted in MJandS's post below that it's the mommy movie at my local theater this week and I'm excited to go. We've gone to the movies almost every week since he was about 1 month old and it's never been a problem. The sound is turned down and C has little to no interest in the screen. Usually he nurses and falls asleep.

I think it's great. I get to get out and see a movie.

I have no problem taking LO to the movies in a situation like this.  I think it's a neat idea.  It's just that the plot of THIS particular movie creeps me the eff out.  I'd never take my kid to see it, even if I don't think she'd pay attention.

I understand. I guess because C doesn't understand what's going on, I'm ok going with him. And it's my only way of seeing it so I'm good to go.

  • OK, you posting this makes more sense then the post below since I was too lazy to find the original post.  I just thought they were encouraging parents to take babies to theaters which, frankly, pisses me off and is the reason I stopped going to movies I had to pay for.  But I can see this being a good idea, with everyone in the audience tolerant of babies and just there to enjoy themselves and get out of the house to see a movie. I can't comment on the movie choice since I still haven't bothered to learn what "The Hunger Games" is all about.  But the idea of a Mom-friendly movie theater seems like a good idea to me.

  • There's no way I would take my toddler to a movie that violent.  Then again, I wouldn't have taken him when he was too young to notice it because he would have screamed the whole time anyway.  :P

But if you've got an easy, very young baby, why not?

Even easy babies have bad days. And while they may not understand the movie, fast movements and loud noises will be enough to put many out of sorts.

This is true, but there are some babies out there that will sleep through anything.
