Mulching

Hello! I happened to mention to my mother that we are planning on mulching the front yard tomorrow and she said that I should be careful because of the chemicals in the mulch.  Has anyone ever heard of anything regarding pregnancy and mulch/yardwork?  I am 15 weeks pregnant.  Any help is greatly appreciated!!! Smile

    My husband works at a material supply company and deals with mulch all day, he says to stick to an organic mulch. Plus it's usually cheaper. Hope this helps!!

    My mom said the same thing to me, so I let my hubby do it this year.

    I've mulched twice now during this pregnancy.  I don't really think it would be an issue.  We use organic mulch.

    Dyed mulches have chemicals in them, and when I was a landscaper actually made me very sick on a few occasions.  If you are using a natural, shredded bark or wood that is untreated I wouldn't worry.  I don't think it would have to be organic, but rather not treated with pesticides.
