Anyone taking Zyrtec D while pregnant?

I'm loving the warm weather, but my allergies are killing me - I've called my OB's office twice this week about taking Zyrtec D, but the nurse has yet to get back to me. I feel like my head is in a vice, and my face is super puffy. I have bad allergies when not pregnant, but this feels like a suped-up version! I usually take Zyrtec D daily, but haven't since I've been pregnant, and the Benadryl I've been taking isn't doing a thing- anyone have any insight from their doctors on taking Zyrtec D?

Exactly this. Do not take anything with D in it.

I have horrible allergies normally too. I still get my allergy shots altho they've kept the does the same each time. My allergist told me zyrtec, NOT D. The decongestant is a no-no when you're pregnant. i literally just asked my mid wife yesterday at the appt what i should do if things get bad since i used to take prednisone which is a category c for pregnancy. She said nasal rinses (like the neti pot) everyday going fwd even if you dont feel bad. She said a prescription for nasacort since its the only nasal spray thats category b (safe in pregnancy), and she said if it gets REALLY bad to call the allergist and talk to them about prednisone or something stronger but only if absolutely necessary. She did say its better to take somethng like that and be able to breathe than to put the stress on your body and the baby. So maybe they would give you a decongestant if you're really bad. She said its fine to take the regualr Zyrtec daily too.

  • Thanks ladies! Zyrtec, minus the D it is!

  • There is a spray called Sinus Buster that is all natural, peppers spray that my doctor approved for me to take so maybe ask about that. You aren't suppose to be able to get hooked on it like Afrin and it does a good job of shrinking the tissues in your sinuses at least temporarily.

  • Same as PPs. My dr told me I could take regular Zyrtec but no D.
