Infertility

<<<Mitzi>>>

Hi there. Happy Friday!

I just read your post below and was wondering if you've looked into or possibly already had the Eteg.rity test. I ask because I know someone IRL who couldn't get past c/ps. She found out through the endometrial biopsy that she was lacking the beta-3 integ.rin protein which is thought to be necessary for implantation. She was treated appropriately and after countless failed attempts, she got pregnant.

Part of me is skeptical because it just sounds too simple of a solution, but it would at least be worth considering. I know it is controversial and many REs don't buy into it.  Anywho, just thinking about you.

  • Thank you so much for reaching out.

I have never even heard of this test and for $600 I'd gladly do it.

I've also been wondering if I could have natural killer cells... something has to be awry. Since we just changed REs and have one frozen we figured we'd see how that goes, but now I am wondering if I shouldn't try something like this.

I've emailed to see if they have providers where I live. I did see that a doctor at my former RE online talking about Embr.yo Gl.ue? ... no one ever brought that up as an option to us. At least one of my blasts was hatching when they put it in and I always come up as having no issues, yet I can't get passed chemical pregnancies.

I appreciate this so much. I'll talk to my husband tonight when he gets home.

  • So I got an email back it appears they can do the test from anywhere.

There are couple things I found slightly off putting about it, but I'm trying not to judge it too much...

One was random grammar errors. I don't know if it was an ESL person writing it or what, but there were quite a few things that I just though 'huh'. I don't know if they were in a rush or what.

The other was this font the entire email was written in:  We have patients...

I will have to read more and see if I can read any first hand experiences.

  • Mitzi, I'm glad I could give you some information -- it can only be helpful, right?

The therapist I'm seeing now has been through the test.  She described herself as the "queen of c/ps."  I'm not sure how this was brought to her attention, but just before she cycled at CC.RM, she had the Eteg.rity test done.  In her words, it was not a pleasant test and the process of getting your sample to the lab was a bit odd.  You're in charge of mailing your endometrial sample, so immediately after the test, you need to toddle off to FedEx.

It seems a bit odd to me that there's one lab that does this test.  I don't know if it's a proprietary test or not (maybe patented?).  Even so, there has to be other methods for testing the presence/absence of a particular protein.  Regardless, it does seem a bit weird that it's not easier to access.

After the results showed that she was lacking the protein, she was treated and then started her cycle at CC.RM which was successful on the first shot.

I don't think this test would be helpful for someone who gets pregnant but whose hCG levels rise appropriately.  That situation would indicate successful implantation, but for whatever reason, it just doesn't stick.

Your comment about the killer cells is an interesting one.  Have you had a reproductive immunological workup?  I haven't yet.  If we miscarry again after this upcoming cycle, we're going to see an RI.  I guess I'm just starting to panic about time.  I turn 36 in a couple of weeks and my body is a heck of a lot older than that.  lol

Well, please do let me know what conclusions you come to about this.  I'll be very interested!
