Baby Names

I think we have the names picked

Thank you all for your suggestions and input the other day. I really appreciated it and it gave me lots of ideas to talk to DH about. I pushed like crazy for Oliver Spence and Piper Anne, but DH was having none of it Crying. I thought he would be all over Oliver Spence, but he HATED it with a pink and purple passion. I reminded him that if we named a boy Spencer, he would get called Spence - he didn't care. I think he was just so incensed that I insisted we use the "c" rather than the "s" that it just ruined it for him. Piper just reminded him too much of "Charmed".

Anyway, we have tentatively agreed on Oliver Jack Van Lxxxxxx and Samantha Jane/Jayne Van Lxxxxxx.  NN would be Ollie or Sammie. We are pretty set on the Oliver, but I think we are still a little open on Samantha.

Our MNs are very much open, for example, I love Samantha Elise, but Jane/Jayne is a family name and I love MNs that are family names, so that will be a game day decision. Jack isn't my first choice, but I think it's a nice name and gives him other choices to go by if he doesn't like Oliver as an adult.

  • The new names are prefectly fine! I've never been a fan of Samantha, but that's just my personal feelings on it.

Our surprise baby, Juliette, is due 12.8.14!

  • I really like your names.

I wouldn't use Jane for myself but it does sound nice with Samantha and if it's a family name that's a pretty good reason to use it.

I think Oliver Jack is better than Oliver Spence and I just don't like Piper. (it's cute but there is something about it I just don't like) I love the name Jack!

  • Kind of a neat family story. I just got off the phone with my mom. I asked her how my Great Aunt Janie spells her name (with or without a Y) and she said, well she spells it without the Y, but my mom's sister who passed away (she was 2 and my mom was about 13) had Jayne as her middle name. I never knew that! I am going to insist on using it with a Y. I think it's prettier/less plain anyway.
