Are two bouncers and two swings necessary?

We have two RNP's and one bouncer and one swing. Do I really need two of each from the start or can I gauge it once they arrive? I figured if both love the swing and hate the bouncer or vice versa then we can get a second then.

Re: Are two bouncers and two swings necessary?

  • we only have one of each.  it turns out that A hates the swing and E hates the bouncy so we got lucky.

We had gotten two of each at our showers and never opened the 2nd boxes.  We had some nice store credit coming our way.

  • YES....especially since you already have two toddlers that will be there to take care of as well.  Both were lifesavers for us.

  • we have 1 swing and 2 bouncers..then got 2 rnp later..now i sort of wish we didn't have so much in our apartment..but it is helpful. i def wouldn't want 2 swings but 2 bouncers is nice when i want the boys to have somewhere else to sit. i feel like waiting would be fine to decide though, or just wait to open one.

  • For us, yes. We've just started using the swings, but both bouncers are in use every single day.

  • two bouncers - yes.

two swings - maybe.  We started with one, and then bought a second of CL. My girls loved the swing.

  • No, we had one of each. (at some point we were given a second hand me down swing, but we didn't use it much at all)
  • We started out with one of each then bought a second when we discovered that both of the boys loved both the swing and bouncer.

  • We have two small swings that also vibrate and can be stationary chairs.  (The Fisher Price space saver swing)

If they hate these I don't know what we'll do lol.

  • I have a wee, crowded house, so I'm going to *try* to do without the swing. I've got 2 bouncers and one RNP. We've got some gift cards if we decide we need a swing later.

  • We don't have any bouncers or swings.  Just 2 RNPS.  We're fine.

  • I think you can wait until they get here and figure out when you may need a certain item.  We kept our twins in one travel pack-n-play for the first month or so.  Later we had one swing set up, and we'd hold one of the kids and have the other one in the swing.  We did get to a point when we needed both, but that wasn't until they were about 3 months old.   Then we set up one bouncer/jumperoo when they were 5 months old and set up the 2nd one a few weeks ago.

I'd say they RNPs are all you need for now.

  • Thanks for the advice!  We are definitely keeping the two RNP's, bought those myself after hearing about them for the first time on this board.  BRU is right down the street so if we end up needing a second bouncer or swing it's not like DH can't run out and buy one within 30 minutes!  LOL!

  • We waited until they came to buy 2 swings.

2 bouncers for sure.  Our babies were really little and were too small for the swings at first.  After we realized they both liked the swing we bought another (well my mom actually bought it at her insistance).

  • Yes to both! Borrowing the 2nd swing and bouncer!
  • For us, YES. We bought bouncers new and swings used from friends. Worth every penny.
