What do you think about them for your little boy?
I am going to admit that I judge when I see a little boy with his head shaved into a mohawk. I understand letting them decide what they want as a haircut, but today I saw a 2-year old with a shaved one. It just didn't look right.
This might be a little bit hypocritical, but I kind of think that faux-hawks are cute. I saw another little boy at the playground today with his hair styled into the most adorable faux-hawk.
Google them both to compare. My opinion is freak vs. cutie-pie.
Re: Opinions on mohawks/faux-hawks
Thanks! We gave him a haircut a few weeks ago(after he got his helmet off it was a mess) and it's just getting long enough to do the faux hawk again:) I love it! I think Mason would look super cute with a hawk too:)
For adults: Mowaks are cool, faux-hawks are lame. Be a man and commit already!
For kids: Mohawks are a bit weird, faux-hawks are cute. I actually combed Saoirse's hair into a faux-hawk when she was about 8 weeks old and she looked so damn cute. DH was annoyed but I took a picture and it's still one of my favorites.

I can't wait for the "im getting a divorce" post in 5 years or so because your husbands were fed up with your disgusting chair asses from playing on the knot all day and getting fired 4-5 times for not doing any work. you guys are all winners!! ~ Laur929
Doesn't bother me at all.
It does look a tad bit rednecky, but at the same time, the boys light up when it's done. As long as it's done over the summer (shaved mohawk) and not during the school year, I don't mind it.
Boys don't get to do some of the exciting clothes and style stuff that girls get to do. I think how excited they get over this is super cute.
At the end of the day, it's hair. It grows back. Not a big deal, it makes them happy, and it's only temporary. Honestly, if a stranger thinks I'm trashy over it...so be it. My kid is healthy and happy. That's all that matters. They're not applying for a job, they're not in school, they're kids.
Most horrible thing ever? Okay, that made me lol.
It's just hair. It doesn't hurt them, and it is probably a style accepted by their social group. So it isn't like the child is suffering in any way.
And sometimes it is damn cute.

If the parent puts a little effort into the mohawk I think its ok on kids, when they let it get all greasy & flopped to the side it looks like trash. I agree its only hair.
Id rather a mo/faux hawk than a freaking rat tail any day. Yes, some hicks here still give their kids those nasty things.
One of my adult female friends just got a mohawk today, it looks awesome.
Agreed. Especially on boys- it grow back SO FAST. It's like letting your kid go out to the store in a Halloween costume in July- kids want to express themselves too.
Now if you give your baby a tattoo I will judge the crap out of you.
This exactly. Gah, people are so damn judgy around here..
I think both are adorable. My oldest's hair grew in like a faux hawk, it was much thicker down the center of her head. My aunt had a foster son who also had hair that grew in that way. My oldest started having opinions about her hair about two. The kid may like it.

I think 8 is definitely old enough for a little boy to ask for a mohawk -- I got my ears pierced at 8 which is a much more long term commitment than cutting your hair.
As a baby, I don't think I'd shave him into a mohawk but I wish cam had enough hair for a fauxhawk, I think it's super cute!

My mom gave Z one the other day. I told her to make sure it was centered next time
I think faux-hawks are cute on babies/toddlers, but the off center thing makes it look sloppy. He is still cute though
Super cute! Cute is an understatement.
This totally
I like fauxhawks for the littles mainly because you can style it all nice for church still.
I don't think they're redneck. Around here we still see a lot of mullets (yes on little and no its no that weird their hair is growing in ones) that is redneck.
