We have always bedshared with our 8mo DS, but it is no longer working for us. I would like to get him in his crib quickly, but also want to make it a smooth transition. He has never slept in his crib (with the exception of a handful of 30 min naps).
I was thinking of putting a mattress in his room and bedsharing in there with him for a while (so he gets used to sleeping in his room). Has anyone done this while transitioning their LO to a crib? How long did you have to do this before putting LO in crib?
Thanks!
Re: Sleeping in LO's room
When DS started crawling at 9 months, we had him do naps and start the night on a floor bed in his room. It worked very well. Since one of us was still with him (until we inched away when he fell asleep), it really wasn't much different than being in our bed.
I have no advice on the crib part of it, since his crib is still side-carred to our bed for after his midnight night-waking. We've been happy with sticking with the floor bed in his room. His room is baby-safe and if he wants to wake up,crawl off the mattress, and go play in there, that is fine with us (labiet he doesn't do this--he usually cries out for us or goes to the door to let us know he's awake).
