MOTHERHOOD FAIL - vent ( sorry )

Ok so 2 1/2 weeks ago C was hospitalised after picking up a viral gastro bug at daycare, he had diarrhea for 48 then started with projectile vomiting, he was only in overnight on IV fluids and monitored but still it was an absolutly horrible weekend. To top it off - he cut two teeth just a few days afterwards. about a week ago after noticing he was a bit sookier than usual and had thrown up more than once at daycare they sent him home and told us we were excluded until we had clearance from the Drs that the gastro was gone. At this point I had already missed 1 week of work.

So the gastro had gone, but poor bubba had a double inner ear infection and as such was placed on penicillin and my daycare at work will not administer medicines so i had to take another 2 days off work. Today he was in another centre for care where they will administer his medicine, only at 11am they called me to say that C had developed a blistery rash on his hands and he needed to go home.

As it turns out he has hand foot and mouth disease the poor kid just can not catch a break. I know there is nothing i could have done to prevent any of this because it's all part of the exposure they have at daycare but i honestly feel like the worst mum in the world right now. and to top it all off he is cutting another 2 teeth

To top it all off - I'm completly exhausted, i feel guilty that i'm going to have to call in "carers" leave again at work after i have just been offered a promotion and my DH and i just had a massive fight because i asked him on sunday if i could just have an hour or two to myself while he watched C.

so sorry to hear that C is feeling unwell. hand, foot and mouth is going around dd1's preschool. half of the kids were out yesterday with it. i'm just waiting for our turn. that stuff is incredibly virulent though, so there really is nothing you could have done.
