Reoccuring Boils on Buttocks

DD has had about 4-5 boils in her rump since birth. She does get pimples there and I generally leave them alone but sometimes, like now, I have to interviene and pop them. I know they are painful when I try try to pop them and get them draining so I try to be quick, try it in the tub when the skin is relaxed, and they clear up in about a week.

Has anyone else had this problem with their LOs? Aside from ABs did your Dr. do or recommend anything special?

A friend of mines daughter would get these. She was told by her dr they were little staff infections. To keep them dry and let them cler up o their own....desitin was ok too. Don't know if it's the same, but maybe?

I'm a pediatric dermatology PA - sounds like she has furunculosis. Wash her butt/groin with Hibiclens (it's OTC in the first aid section) everytime you bathe her. Don't let her sit in the bath (she's sitting in her bacteria), rather, shower her. Either use an OTC antibiotic cream (like polysporin), or ask your pedi for an Rx of clindamycin lotion to put on 2x day to prevent them. 20% of kids are always colonated with the bacteria, staph.
