CD moms, question about funk

CD moms, quick question about funk. Four weeks ago I stripped all the CDs due to some repelling and funk issues. Everything was fine and dandy but recently after the first wash (with detergent), rinse (cold), rinse (cold) cycle the diapers come out of the washer not smelling clean so I have to wash them all over again. The second wash, rinse, rinse cycle gets them smelling nice and clean, but needless to say CD laundry is taking forever now. What could I be doing wrong? Why don't they come out clean after the first wash?

I'm using Tide for the first wash and then RnG for the second wash, I tried switching and using RnG first but I still have to wash twice. I tired increasing the amount of detergent I use but still had to wash twice. Any ideas what's going on?

  • I don't know for sure that this would help, but I always do a cold rinse with NO detergent first.

  • I agree with PP.  Cold rinse first helps to get all the poop out!

Usually stink after washing means the diapers aren't clean - which is why you need to wash them again to get them smelling good.  So, it probably means you need to add more detergent to your wash (I know you tried that already but you might need to add even more!)

Another thing I like to do is spray the dipes with Bac Out before putting them in the pail.  That helps with some of the stink too.

    Hope you figure it out!

  • I agree with pp's, I always do a pre-rinse prior to the first wash so I'd give that a try.
