I am 34 weeks pregnant and it is getting warmer out, so I am noticing my rings are having a hard time coming off throughout the day. I really don't want to take them off and was hoping to keep them on during the entire pregnancy (even if I couldn't get them off at one point). I don't feel like they are digging into my skin or anything, but could it get to that point?
Do most people take them off until after the baby or keep them on even if you can't get them off at some point?
And, no, i don't have a cheap alternate ring to wear in its place.
Just wanted to get thoughts and others point of view from experience.
Re: Leaving Wedding Rings on or off?
I am 37 weeks pregnant and my wedding ring is stayin' on. It is still loose on my finger and comes off really easy. I figure if you can get it off and on without too much trouble, you can leave it on. However, if it takes a lot of effort to get it off, take it off. I believe I had to do that with my first pregnancy but not my second (my current pregnancy). It probably helps that I had to use tape or something to make my ring smaller in the beginning of my pregnancy. I actually don't mind that I don't need to put the tape on it anymore and didnt' have the ambition to resize it. lol
So pretty much as soon as I found out I was pregnant this time, I ditched the rings just to be safe. I did put them on when we had our maternity pictures taken a few weeks ago, and ironically they were practically falling off from being too loose. So I guess I'm just destined to not wear them while pregnant! haha
It never really got "cold" here...I had to take my rings off around 24 weeks. I did a lot of walking on our treadmill during this pregnancy and my hands would swell so bad from being hot that I just had to take them off.
I would suggest taking them off now while you can since you are getting closer to the end. You don't want them to get stuck then have to be cut off. I woke up a couple weeks ago and thought I better take my toe rings off and I could only get 1 off! In a matter of 1 day my toes swelled to little sausage toes and I can't get the other one off with anything!!
I have a scheduled c-sect tomorrow and they will be cutting it off at the hospital!

As of right now mine are snug but fine. They were loose before pregnancy.
I never ever sleep with my rings on though because my hands tend to swell during the night. I put them on after I am done getting ready and then take them off around dinner time.
Depending on how I am feeling, I usually take them off once and awhile during the day but after I wash them with cold water and moisturize they are typically fine.
I've noticed with the heat that mine are getting tighter as well...
I figure that I will just drink tons of water and take them off when I am at home... other than that, I want to keep them on.
I figure if it gets really uncomfortable that I will wear them on a necklace. My friend who was pregnant during the summer and swelled up like Violet from Charlie & the Chocolate Factory, did this.
Not all hospitals do this.
I wore my rings all through my first pregnancy and through L&D. I'm hoping I can manage the same things time around.
Mine started to get a little tough to slip on and off around 28 weeks which is also when it started to get nice outside. I took them off and put them in a safe place, i'm not risking having to get them cut off.
a few weeks ago i started waking up in the night and my hands would be swollen, my engagement ring cutting off the circulation in my finger. i'd take it off for the rest of the night, but put it back on in the morning. then it got harder to take off, so i stopped wearing it altogether.
my wedding band stopped fitting a long time ago.
i say take them off.
i feel weird without them, but i'm afraid they would get stuck and i'd have to get my finger amputated or something.
I do like the idea of a cheap alternative but not the prospect of a green finger. :P
This is what I did also. I'm still wearing mine but as soon as the weather gets really warm I know my hands will swell up. If your rings are silver or gold, they can easily be cut off, but if they're platinum (mine are) it can be a real problem to cut them off so I'd rather not take the chance.
Plus, some hospitals have a 'no rings' policy for c-sections. So, if you end up in an emergency situation, the hospital may cut them off ...

I had to take mine off at around 35 weeks, because I was noticing that they were getting harder and harder to take off, and I didn't want to have to get them cut off if they ended up getting stuck! Now I just wear them around my neck on a little chain.
I'm glad I took them off when I did, though- they were starting to make a big dent in my finger that didn't go away for about five days after I took them off!
