Hi - I haven't been on the the boards in ages, but just found out on Friday that two of our triplets need helmets to help with flat heads. I would love to hear from anyone whose little ones had to wear them and your experience in general. Also, because we have triplets, I am wondering if there is any kind of financial assistance out there for the helmets, since they run $2,500 per helmet. I appreciate any info you can share. Thanks ladies!

Re: Helmets for flat head
A friend of mine had to get one for her child and it was covered by insurance. Not sure if I am right but I think they are covered if it is for medical reasons and not cosmetic.
Hi,
My son wore a helmet for 4 months-he is just finishing his part-time schedule. Overall it hasn't been too bad-it has annoyed him from time to time, but they get used to it. Now he cries everytime he bumps his head cause he doesn't have protection anymore. As far as cost-some insurances cover it and some don't. Ours was an exclusion in our policy and we had to pay out of pocket for it-ours was around $1,800. It sucks that it isn't covered sometimes even if it is medically necessary. However I can tell you now he has a perfectly shaped head-and the time goes by quickly. Good luck!
